Overview

 

Kate Kirkpatrick is Lecturer in Philosophy and Religion at the University of Hertfordshire. Kate studied Philosophy and Theology at Regent's Park College, Oxford, taking a BA in 2005. She then worked in book publishing for five years (as an editorial assistant and commissioning editor of trade non-fiction) before returning to postgraduate study. She gained her MSt and DPhil from St Cross College, Oxford.

Before joining the School of Humanities at Hertfordshire in 2016 Kate was Instructor in Philosophy of Religion at St Clare's, Oxford, and Stipendiary Lecturer in Theology and Religion at St Peter's College, Oxford.

Kate is the author of two books on Jean-Paul Sartre: Sartre and Theology (London: Bloomsbury, 2017) and Sartre on Sin (Oxford: Oxford University Press, 2017) and is currently working on a new biography of Simone de Beauvoir, forthcoming from Bloomsbury in 2019.

She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, an Associate Fellow for of the Higher Education Academy, and the Treasurer of the UK Sartre Society.
