Dr Katerina Vafeiadou MSc PhD RNutr

Overview

Dr Katerina Vafeiadou joined the University of Hertfordshire in August 2013. She is a registered Nutritionist (RNutr) and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). Currently she is a senior lecturer in Nutrition in the School of Life and Medical Sciences and contributes to the teaching in both the BSc(Hons) Nutrition and BSc(Hons) Dietetics courses. She is the module leader of several Level 4, Level 5 and Level 6 modules and her main aim is to enhance teaching via innovation and interactive teaching strategies.

Katerina is also the placement and work experience tutor for the BSc(Hons) Nutrition course. Within this role she links with local employers and supports final year students in identifying work experience opportunities and second year students in applying for sandwich placements. She is also the Study Abroad tutor and supports second year students in applying for this exciting opportunity that UH has to offer.

Katerina is currently the admissions tutor for BSc(Hons) Nutrition and works closely with marketing to enhance the programme’s external profile.

Prior to joining the University of Hertfordshire Katerina completed her undergraduate studies in Greece, post-graduate studies in the UK and worked for several years as a post-doctoral fellow in research projects that investigated the impact of dietary components on management of cardiovascular disease risk.
