Dr Rachelle Andrews

As Director of Centre for Executive Leadership (CExL) at Hertfordshire Business School Dr Rachelle Andrews works with a portfolio of executive education at Master’s and Doctoral level, which includes the AMBA accredited MBA, MSc Business and Organisational Strategy (MBOS), and our MSc Public Services Management (PSM), Doctor of Management (DMan) and DBA programmes. She has also taken a lead on developing the Level 7 Senior Leader Degree Apprenticeship (SLDA) programmes to provide a relevant and interactive teaching experience for part-time students who are in full time management positions.

In the context of research, Rachelle has worked extensively with small firms as a business adviser and consultant and draws on this experience to develop research related to small and medium sized businesses (SME) and small charities from a practice-based, social perspective. Her PhD specifically focused on the development of innovative methodology that takes a Radically Responsive Narrative approach, an area that she continues to work on with her colleague Dr Jana Filosof. This critical approach challenges traditional views of advising as a transfer of knowledge from expert adviser to client, and offers a perspective that takes up ideas from the complexity sciences, recognising power relating emerging local interaction, and the emergence of ethics in our day-to-day work with others. Rachelle has regularly contributed to Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ISBE) and continues to take up opportunities to work with small business clients and facilitate strategic planning and business development activities.
