Research interests

Rodney's research interests from the 1990's to 2000's in the area of river engineering, hydraulics and sediment transport. In particular specilaising in culvert performance, scour and erosion at culvert outlets and around bridge pier supports. Aspects of this included using CFD to model and simulate flows through different culvert inlet geometries. His research expanded to include applications of artificial neural networks to predicting scour hole size and depth and sediment transport. Since 2007 Rodney has worked with many SMEs on Knowledge Transfer Projects that led to publications in the area of business process improvement and organisational improvement for the company.  More recently his research has switched back to core engineering subjects with research in fluid mechanics, microfluidics, materials and mechanics.
