Overview

As an academic I have always attempted to combine my experience of working in the media industries (TV production and PR) with my passion for interdisciplinary research and scholarship. I am particularly interested in the ways in which culture impacts on media content and how in turn media impacts on culture and society. My current research project explores representations of Antiquity in serial television drama.

In addition to this, my role as the university's research theme champion for Heritage, Cultures and Communities allows me to promote an facilitate interdisciplinary research across our institution. As a participant of the first cohort and more recently role model of the LFHE Aurora - Women in Leadership programme I am keen to support my colleagues with their research development, especially those at the early stage of their career.

An example for the collaborative projects I have been involved is the Screening the Virtues workshop which I organised in 2017 with Prof. John Lippitt from the Philosophy group. This one-day workshop aimed to encourage a discussion of virtues across disciplines and we welcomed participants from a range of disciplines, in particular philosophy, theology religious studies and film studies. The keynote on Emersonian moral perfectionism was given by Prof Stephen Mulhall (University of Oxford).
