Description

This is a H2020 proposal led by the University of Zurich in which UH is a partner. Here's the Abstract:
Neuromorphic engineering is a ground-breaking approach that draws inspiration from the powerful and ecient biological neural processing systems and has produced analog, digital, and mixed-signal devices able to carry out sensing, processing, and motor control strategies with ultra-low power performance. Today's neuromorphic community in Europe is leading the state-of-the-art in this domain. The community counts an increasing number of labs that work on theory, modelling, and implementation of neuromorphic computing systems using both conventional VLSI technologies and emerging memristive devices. To enable the uptake of this technology and to match the needs of real-world applications in future products that solve real-world tasks in industry, health-care, assistive systems, and consumer devices, a strong and sustainable communication channel between research labs and different stakeholders is needed. The NEUROTECH project aims to (1) form a connected, interdisciplinary and inter-institutional research community around the topic of neuromorphic computing technology; (2) establish sustainable bidirectional communication channels between academia and industry; (3) promote public interest by show-casting key technologies and solutions; and (4) shape educational resources to drive future technology advancement. The CSA will be the connecting
element that will allow us to consolidate and disseminate the state of the art of neuromorphic technology and to create a transformative roadmap for progress in neuromorphic computing, unleashing its enabling power for smart technology of the future.
