Description

The Restorative Justice Strategy for Hertfordshire 2015-2018 has been hailed as a pioneering document for partnership working and for ensuring long term sustainability of the RJ project in Hertfordshire. It has attracted the attention of the Ministry of Justice, the Restorative Justice Council (RJC) and international scholars working in the field. Hertfordshire is participating in the Ministry of Justice RJ week campaign in 2015, the RJC external relations and standards team are working with the School of Law to develop training and partnership work. International academics are visiting the Centre for Restorative Justice (CeRJ) in December 2015 to present their research findings and to discuss research collaboration in RJ and criminal justice work. In order to make the strategy a continuing success, market development through promotion and awareness raising in RJ is crucial. The success of the two pilots relating to community remedy (making the apology option a restorative policy option, starting with Wel-hat district) and presentence RJ (at Hatfield Magistrates court) require the activities mentioned in this proposal to go ahead in order to achieve success.
