Abstract

The sphere decoder was adopted in Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) wireless communication systems to provide an estimate to the NP-hard Maximum Likelihood (ML) detector. This paper introduces a novel receiver based on the Schnorr-Euchner Sphere Decoding (SE-SD) algorithm. The overview of the ML detection is given in the paper. The novel SE-SD based receiver is implemented using an initial sphere radius based on the parameter rt, in order to establish the complexity involved. The proposed SE-SD algorithm is compared with existing methods to demonstrate its feasibility
