Abstract

Atmospheric CO2 emissions and climate change have taken central stage in the environmental arena over the past decades. Despite some controversies, the overwhelming majority of worldwide scientific communities agree that most of the climate change currently being observed is attributable to increased anthropogenic CO2 emissions from the excessive burning of fossil fuels and land-use changes. This chapter starts with the discussion of the Global Carbon Cycle, followed by the description of the connection between the Climate Change and CO2 emissions and the review of the Global Warming Projections, and finally summarizes the environmental concerns arising from the continual increase in the atmospheric CO2 emissions.
