Abstract

I have been thinking about the legacy of colonialism ever since I landed on British shores from my home in Australia at age 22. Raised in Melbourne in the 1970s and 80s, I was well aware of its endemic racism and the fact that much of our schooling referred to landscapes I had never encountered and couldn't possibly imagine. I didn’t connect either fact to colonialism.
