Abstract

This paper summarises the applications, experiences and general impressions of two different users working jointly on man-machine interfaces over a period of a little under three years. The user is a computer scientist whose main interests in the project were in exploring the use of a touch sensitive screen, the structure of man-machine interface software, and the use of sophisticated terminal facilities in providing a man-machine interface to a real application. The second user is a psychologist whose main interests were in evaluating different physical and language human-computer interfaces to the same package. The experience is on a PERQ-1 running under the POS operating system with 512K memory.
