Overview

Aladdin Ariyaeeinia received the degrees of BEng in Communication Engineering, MSc in Digital Signal Processing, and PhD in Active Imaging in 1976, 1982 and 1986 respectively. He received full membership of the IET (IEE) in 1988, and was awarded CEng status in the same year. During his time at the University of Hertfordshire, he was involved in research in close collaboration with industry, and published numerous papers. The focus of his research included voice biometrics (speaker identification/verification), speaker change detection, biometric fusion, and stereoscopic imaging. Ariyaeeinia was a member of the IEE Professional Group Committee for Speech and Language Processing. He was a member of the Editorial Board for the IET Signal Processing Journal between 2007 and 2016.  Ariyaeeinia was the Guest Editor for IEE Proceedings Vision, Image and Signal Processing, Special Section on “Biometrics on the Internet” in 2003, and the Lead Guest Editor for IET Signal Processing, Special Issue on “Biometric Recognition” in 2009. During 2006-2009, He was a member of the steering committee of the EPSRC Network of Academics in Biometrics (Integrating Research and Industrial Biometrics Strategies). Between 2011 and 2014, Ariyaeeinia was the UK member of the EU COST ICT-Domain Committee. He served on the Management Committee of COST Action 250 (Speaker Recognition in Telephony) as a UK representative between 1996 and 1999, and was the Chairman of EU COST Action 275 (Biometric Recognition over the Internet) between 2001 and 2005. He also served on the Management Committee of COST Action 2101 (Biometrics for Identity Documents and Smart cards) between 2006 and 2011, and was a UK member of the Management Committee of COST Action IC1206 (De-Identification for Privacy Protection in Multimedia Content) between 2013 and 2017. Ariyaeeinia has served on the scientific committees of various conferences, and acted as a referee for a number of academic journals.
