Overview

I am a Senior Research Assistant based at the Centre for Research in Public Health and Community Care at the University of Hertfordshire. I am also a core member of Prevention and Early Detection in Health and Social Care theme within the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration East of England.

My academic background spans the fields of Linguistics, Education, Criminology and Social Sciences. My research interests include social determinants of health, health disparities, and their relationship with the likelihood of criminal justice contact. I am also interested in food insecurity, its impact on health and wellbeing and ways to address it.

I have worked on a project evaluating a culturally adapted intervention to increase cancer screening uptake among South Asian Muslims. I have also supported the dissemination of research into the cancer treatment experiences of South Asian women and contributed to a study examining food aid usage among older adults. My forthcoming projects include a study where Machine Learning is employed to discover patterns in large datasets of domestic abuse victims and perpetrators as well as an initiative to promote healthy eating and home cooking skills in low-income families.
