Overview

Dr Gbanaibolou Jombo is a Senior Lecturer in Machine Performance and Structural Integrity at the School of Physics, Engineering, and Computer Science, University of Hertfordshire, UK. His research focuses on diagnostics, prognostics, and reliability of engineering systems, as well as noise and vibration control. He has been involved in consultancy with several companies and provides expertise in machine condition monitoring, structural health monitoring, noise, and vibration.

He is the Programme Leader for MSc Automotive Engineering, in the School of Physics, Engineering, and Computer Science, University of Hertfordshire and a member of the School Academic Committee, and the university’s Financial Support Strategic Group.

He is a senior fellow of higher education academy (AdvanceHE), a UK chartered engineer (IMechE) and AdvanceHE trained external examiner.

He is an external examiner for: Nottingham Trent International College with responsibility for Foundation Certificate for Science and Engineering and ONCAMPUS Hull with responsibility for International Year One Engineering Programme.

He has acted as external panel member, development lead, and external advisor for periodic reviews such as: periodic subject review of engineering, University of Northampton (Dec. 2023), periodic review of MSc Automotive Engineering, University of Hertfordshire (Dec. 2023), periodic review of FdEng Motorsport Engineering and BSc (Hons) Motorsport Technology (Top-up), University of Brighton, UK (Northbrook College, Chichester College Group) (May 2024), periodic review of BEng Automotive Engineering, University of Wales Trinity Saint David, UK (Collaborative Partnership with Wuhan University of Technology) (Aug. 2024), validation of FdEng Motorsports Engineering, London South Bank University, UK (Collaborative Partnership with Brooklands College, UK) (Sept. 2024).

Previously, he was a KTP Research Associate in the School of Engineering, University of Lincoln working on a joint project with Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery Lincoln on the development of intelligent systems for the testing and monitoring of industrial gas turbines.

He completed his PhD from Cranfield University, working on the integrated application of vibration and gas path analysis for the monitoring of fouling in a gas turbine compressor.

He received the John Greenlees Findlay Memorial Award in Recognition of Endeavour & Initiative for his MSc in Design of Rotating Machines in Cranfield University.

He has published research articles in leading international journals. He is a reviewer board member for Sensors, Signals, Eng and African Journal of Engineering and Environment Research. He is a reviewer for other journals such as: Sensors, Applied Sciences, Buildings, Aerospace, Lubricants, Electronics, Actuators, Coatings, Eng, Symmetry, Materials, Energies, Processes, Automation, Remote Sensing, World Electric Vehicle Journal (WEVJ), Journal of Marine Science and Engineering (JMSE), Machines, Signals, Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing, and IEEE Access.
