Overview

Dr George Georgiou is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology, and his research interests span across the areas of cyberpsychology, creativity, cognition, occupational and health psychology.

Dr Georgiou is a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (CPsychol - DARTP), an Associate Fellow of the BPS (AFBPsS), and has previously served as a committee member of the BPS Cyberpsychology Section & the BPS Cognitive Psychology Section. George is also a Chartered Scientist (CSci) with The Science Council, and he is listed on The Register of Qualifications in Test Use (RQTU).

  • Cyberpsychology: problematic usage of the internet, the impact of digital technology on cognitive function and psychological well-being, cyber-harassement & cybersecurity, & game transfer phenomena & phantom phone vibrations, AI, and VR.

  • Leadership, stress, resilience

  • Self-control, thought suppression, behavioural rebound, repressive coping, & the relationship between cognitive strategies and wellbeing
