Dr George Georgiou is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology whose research interests span cyberpsychology, creativity, cognition, and occupational and health psychology.

He is a Chartered Psychologist (CPsychol, DARTP) and Associate Fellow (AFBPsS) of the British Psychological Society (BPS). He has previously served as a committee member of both the BPS Cyberpsychology Section and the BPS Cognitive Psychology Section. In addition, he is a Chartered Scientist (CSci) with the Science Council and is listed on the Register of Qualifications in Test Use (RQTU).

George is passionate about data science, statistical methodology, and open research practices. He also co-leads the department's Open Research and Research Integrity (ORRI) group, promoting transparent, rigorous, and reproducible research.

Cyberpsychology: Exploring digitally mediated behaviours and phenomena, and their relationships with cognition, health, and wellbeing. Key areas include video gaming; problematic use of the internet (PUI); cybersecurity and cyber-harassment; digital technology as a vehicle for cognitive extension, incorporation, and cognitive offloading; beneficial and restorative applications of virtual and extended reality (VR/XR); and the psychological implications of artificial intelligence (AI).

Creativity and innovation: Examining the mechanisms that support, enhance, and explain creative processes and outputs. Key areas include creative problem-solving, divergent thinking, incubation, insight, and serendipity.

Leadership, wellbeing, stress, and resilience: Investigating the individual, social, and organisational factors that enable people and organisations to thrive in demanding environments.

Self-regulation, thought suppression, and repressive coping: Examining how cognitive and emotional regulation strategies influence wellbeing, adaptation, and psychological functioning.
