Gizdem has been working on the NIHR-funded DACHA study (Developing research resources and minimum data set for care homes' adoption and use) since December 2019, first as a research fellow and then as a senior research fellow. She also started working on the NIHR-funded CHAPPI study (Care Home Activity Providers facilitating Public Involvement in research as meaningful activity for care home residents) as a co-applicant in April 2023.

Prior to her role at the University of Hertfordshire, she worked as a teaching fellow in the Department of Digital Humanities at King’s College London. Gizdem completed her MSc and PhD at the London School of Economics, under the Information Systems and Innovation Faculty Research Group, and was awarded her BEng (Hons) from the University of Sheffield's Department of Computer Science. Her research interests include health care information systems, technology in care, policy research, ageing studies, and qualitative/mixed methods.
