Overview

Dr Haeyoung Lee has a BSc in Telecommunication Engineering from Korea Aerospace University, and received her MSc in Information and Communication Eng. from Gwangu Institute of Science and Technology (GIST), South Korea. Then, she worked for telecommunication industry (Samsung Electronics, Korea, as a research engineer, to develop the CDMA mobile internet platform) and public sector (national Radio Research Agency (RRA), Ministry of Science and ICT, as a research officer, to research spectrum management policy) for many years. In Oct. 2010, she started her PhD studies on "Dynamic Spectrum Sharing by Opportunistic Spectrum Access with Spectrum Aggregation" in the Centre for Communication Systems Research (CCSR), University of Surrey. After finishing her PhD studies, she went back to RRA and then moved to Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA). In Feb. 2016, she returned to academia as a (senior) research fellow in 5G/6G Innovation Centre, University of Surrey. Since Sept. 2022, she has been working for the School of Physics, Engineering, and Computer Science at University of Hertfordshire (UH), as a senior lecturer. She also works for as a visiting researcher in 5G/6G Innovation Centre, University of Surrey. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

  • Full funded PhD Scholarship by CCSR (Centre for Communication Systems Research) in University of Surrey 

Research interests

Dr Lee's main research interests are the intelligent radio resource management for advanced wireless communications, including the following:

  • Next-generation (B5G/6G) communications and networking
  • Machine learning communication technologies for dynamic networks including vehicles/drones/UAVs 
  • Communication applications to support connected and automated industries (e.g., Automotive, and Factory automation).
  • Dynamic spectrum access & sharing 
  • Intelligent channel access scheme for unlicensed spectrum  
  • Quality-of-service/experience (QoS/QoE) provisioning
