Research interests
I specialise in public service management and lead the MSc programme Leadership and Management of Public Services at Hertfordshire University Business School. My current research interests are service co-production in a context of sustained budgetary austerity and strategic leadership of cities facing long term decline. Research publications in progress include the development of concepts to explore leadership in service co-production, transnational knowledge exchange through peer review and strategic leadership in cities dealing with long term decline. I am currently working on three studies: one focused on volunteer-led service co-prodcution in the fire and rescue services, one exploring the impact of academisation on strategy and leadership in schools, and furhter study exploring leadership and service co-production in Hertfordshire schools.
I have 20 years experience of urban regeneration and service management in public and third sector organisations and I have extensive experience in undertaking practice oriented research concerned with third sector organisations. My European networks embrace academic and practioner communities and I have over ten years experience in managing knowledge exchange and research networks concerned with strategy and governance in urban regeneration contexts.
