Overview
Dr Ivor Sokolić is a Lecturer in Politics and International Relations at the University of Hertfordshire and a Visiting Fellow at the European Institute at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He contributes to the ERC funded project “Justice Interactions and Peacebuilding: From Static to Dynamic Discourses across National, Ethnic, Gender and Age Groups”, which examines transitional justice processes across the former Yugoslavia. In 2023 he received an AHRC Early-Stage Impact Award together with Dr Elisa Randazzo, to work on the project "Exploring the Impact of Participatory Post-Conflict Performance Arts Research: The Case of Kosovo". The project aims to explore new methodologies to study how ethnic groups interact after conflict.
Ivor holds a PhD in Political Science from the UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies and an MSc and BSc in European Politics from the Department of International Politics at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth.
In 2019, Ivor published a book based on his research on Croatia, titled International Courts and Mass Atrocity: Narratives of War and Justice in Croatia (Palgrave MacMillan). He has published articles in Cooperation & Conflict, Identities, Nations & Nationalism, Nationalities Papers, Südosteuropa and The Croatian Political Science Review. Ivor regularly presents his research to policy makers and media outlets (both international and regional in the former Yugoslavia).
Ivor is happy to supervise PhD students in the areas of post-conflict politics, transitional justice and politics of the former Yugoslavia.
Teaching specialisms
Ivor specialises in teaching research methods undergraduate and postgraduate level, as well as specialsit courses on conflict studies and International Political Economy.
