John Lones is a lecturer in Robotics and AI at the university of Hertfordshire, United Kingdom. His PhD focused on Epigenetic Robotics and was awarded by the University of Hertfordshire in 2016. He was previously a research Fellow at the University of Leeds, UK, working on Bio-inspired and Neurorobotic for urban environments (2017-2020) as part of a multi-institution project.
His research interest and focus are centred on fully autonomous robots (no wires, no teether) operating in dynamic and unknown environments. Apart from developing systems which can operate in said environment another core research goal is using robots as models to learn about our own cognition and development.
He currently teaches a number of course on the Robotics an AI (RAI) program at the UH with a focus on project-based modules and Behaviour robotics.
