Overview

I am a Associate Professor (learning & teaching) and Senior Lecturer in Children's Nursing with particular research interests in both educational and clinical fields. I have recent involvement as part of my Doctorate in Education, in learning and teaching enhancement through the development of digital resources and the exploration of empathy, person-centred learning for nurses and health professionals in children's nursing / neonatal care. My other area of research interest relates to investigating outcomes and experiences of premature neonates and their families / parents in the transition home from neonatal care and beyond in the community, and most recently relating to the barriers and enablers of communication between these vulnerable babies, parents and staff in the neonatal field. I am involved in various other research studies including evaluative work of simulation infant dolls within nursing and social work practice and exploring / improving the practice placement experience of students from Black and ethnic minority backgrounds.  Finally, I have a wide publication and editing history including peer-reviewed papers, chapters and books focusing on neonatal nursing care, early care of the infant, learning and teaching / digital technologies within nursing, & narrative approaches to education & research.
