Personal profile
Research interests
Dr Liana Azizova’s research focuses on surface chemistry and materials chemistry, with an emphasis on catalysis, biocompatible coatings, and organic-inorganic composites for biomedical applications. She is particularly interested in designing materials with tailored surface properties for applications in healthcare, renewable energy, and drug delivery.
Her work explores how surface modifications influence biocompatibility, antimicrobial properties, and material performance. She has developed thromboresistant and antibacterial coatings, lipid-based antimicrobial systems for implants, and functional materials for controlled drug release. Through advanced spectroscopic techniques such as PiFM, AFM, XPS, and FTIR, she investigates molecular interactions at surfaces to optimize material behaviour at the nanoscale.
Dr. Liana Azizova is also engaged in interdisciplinary research bridging chemistry, biomaterials, and nanotechnology. Her projects have included studying extracellular vesicles using spectroscopy imaging tools, designing stimuli-responsive coatings, and exploring nanosized oxides for catalytic applications. She has a strong background in surface chemistry and hybrid materials. Her research aims to develop innovative solutions for biomedical and industrial challenges.
