My research focuses on the evolution of galaxies and active galactic nuclei (AGN), where I primarily use low-frequency radio observations from the LOFAR Two-metre Sky Survey (LoTSS) and optical spectroscopy from world-leading instruments such as SDSS, DESI, and WEAVE. A key aspect of my work involves studying the two accretion modes of AGN - radiatively-efficient and -inefficient, and understanding their role in shaping galaxies and their surrounding environment.
Currently, I am actively involved in the preparation for the WEAVE-LOFAR survey, a major spectroscopic follow-up of LoTSS targets that will obtain over a million spectra of star-forming galaxies and AGN. This unprecedented dataset will provide crucial insights into key scientific areas, including the cosmic star formation history, accretion and AGN-driven feedback, cosmology, and the epoch of reionisation, with observations expected to begin in late 2025.
