Overview
Dr. Mohammad Harris is a multidisciplinary researcher, educator, and engineer specialising in sustainable engineering and energy technologies, Industry 4.0, and AI-driven optimisation. Based at the University of Hertfordshire, he has contributed to and managed high-impact research projects funded by UKRI, EPSRC, Horizon Europe (MCSA), and the Royal Society, Rolls-Royce/Alan Turing Institute, with a combined value exceeding $1,000,000 (One Million USD).
His research integrates experimental and numerical methods with machine learning to develop efficient, low-impact engineering solutions for real-world applications. As Co-founder and Managing Director of JHT International, he applies academic expertise to industrial practice, leading the development of lean, ethical, and sustainable manufacturing systems.
Dr. Harris is a Royal Academy of Engineering Global Talent awardee, an Alan Turing Institute “Learning Machine” recipient, and a finalist for the EPC Hammerman Award 2025. He actively contributes to the research community as a Guest Editor for SAGE and MDPI journals and serves on the Programme Committee for IEEE conferences. He is also a peer reviewer for major academic publishers including Elsevier, Wiley, Springer Nature, Emerald, and Taylor & Francis.
He is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA), a Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (MIET), and a strong advocate for inclusive STEM education through his roles as a UK STEM Ambassador and Design & Enterprise judge for F1 in Schools.
His current research interests include Industry 4.0, Machine Learning/AI, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), project management, and Circular Economy-based innovation in engineering design and manufacturing.
