Overview
Dr. Abubakar Mohammed is a dynamic and accomplished academic with over ten years of combined experince in academia, research and banking. Specialising in international trade, energy economics, and development economics. He currently serves as a Lecturer and research fellow at the University of Hertfordshire, UK, where he teaches postgraduate courses, supervises research dissertations, and contributes to high-impact publications.
Before joining the University of Hertfordshire, Dr. Mohammed was a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Roehampton, London.
A recipient of the prestigious Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) PhD Scholarship and the British Academy Global Talent Endorsement in Economics, Dr. Mohammed has established a strong reputation for academic excellence and research innovation. He is an active member of the Econometric Society, the American Economic Association, and the Royal Economic Society.

Dr. Mohammed’s research focuses on the intersections of globalisation, sustainability, and economic development, with numerous publications in reputable international journals such as Resources Policy, Sustainability, and Environmental Science & Policy Research. His work is recognised for its empirical rigour and policy relevance, particularly in addressing challenges related to trade liberalisation, environmental sustainability, and resource management in Sub-Saharan Africa and beyond.
