Dr Mouloud Denai is a Senior Lecturer in Electric Power and Control. He graduated from the University of Science and Technology of Algiers and Ecole Nationale Polythechnique of Algiers, Algeria in Electrical Engineering and received his PhD in Control Engineering from the University of Sheffield, UK. He worked for the University of Science and Technology of Oran (Algeria) until 2004 and the University Of Sheffield (UK) from 2004 to 2010. He worked for Teesside University from 2010 to 2014. He is currently with the School of Physics, Engineering & Computer Science, University of Hertfordshire, UK. He has active international collaboration with universities in Europe and Algeria and has been an expert reviewer for grant applications and external examiner for PhD, MPhil and academic promotions with several institutions in the UK and abroad. Dr Denai has sat on the organising committees of several IFAC Symposia and Congresses, IEEE Conferences and has acted as a peer reviewer for several international journals including: IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, Electric Power Systems Research (Elsevier), International Journal of Electrical Power and Energy Systems (Elsevier), Applied Energy (Elsevier), Energy Systems (Springer), MDPI Journals (Energies, Environments, Applied Sciences, Sustainability), IET Power Electronics, International Journal of Renewable and Sustainable Energy, Electric Power Components & Systems (Taylor & Francis),
He is Associate Editor for IEEE Access and Frontiers in Energy Efficiency Applications. He acts as Academic Editor for Sustainability and Energies journals and International Transactions on ELectrical Energy Systems.

Control Systems Theory
My main field of expertise are in modelling, control and optimisation and span the areas of Energy Systems and Life Science (biological and biomedical).
Research interests in Energy include intelligent control design and computational intelligence techniques applications for energy efficiency optimisation in the field of renewable energy systems with a particular focus in the management of smart homes and dynamic scheduling, optimisation and control of futures smart grids. The other research focus are in condition monitoring and asset management in electric power networks, energy sotrage systems integration into the grid, smart meter data analytics using machine learning techniques ofr energy efficient management, impact of electric vehicles on the distribution grid (V2G and G2V), smart mobility optimisation and infrasctructure management.
Research interests in Life Science (Biological and Biomedical) include: Hybrid (physically-based, data-driven and qualitative) modeling, optimisation and control of biomedical engineering and healthcare; Decision support systems for diagnosis and therapy planning in critical care medicine; Data modeling and knowledge elicitation for medical decision-making.
