Overview
Raj is a climate scientist specializing in climate change, big data and earth system modelling. A former ECR Fellow, he now leads research group on Climate Change Modelling and Applications. The overarching goal of his research is to shed light on mechanisms and physical processes controlling climate change at different spatial and temporal scales. His work focuses on aerosol-cloud–climate interaction and reducing the assocaited uncertainties related with them in climate models. He comprehensively investigate the relationships with other anthropogenic forcing agents (eg greenhouse gases, land-use changes, etc.) and with the underlying natural climate variability. He is interested in conducting studies in a multidisciplinary framework, in which the interactions between climate and other disciplines (eg air quality and health, water and energy management, agriculture) are also investigated. To achieve these goals, he uses a variety of tools, from observations to a range of state-of-the-art climate models of various complexities, data driven approaches (Machine learning) supported by a solid theoretical framework.
