Overview

My interdisciplinary research focuses on LGBTQ+ belonging and inclusion in different places and spaces, with expertise in narrative and autobiographical representation across different media and genres. I have particular interests in the study of male homosexuality across cultures, and the mediation of sexual identities online and their impact on wellbeing.

I have also published widely on twentieth-century women’s writing, masculinity, philosophy of education, and student belonging.

I teach across humanities and social scientific courses, and have particular interests in interdisciplinary education.

Teaching specialisms

I have taught across a range of English Studies, Education Studies, and Academic Writing programmes. I currently supervise students on the DClinPsy and Professional Doctorate schemes.
