Personal profile

Overview

I am an Associate Professor in Research and Programme Lead for the BSc (Hons) Dietetics at the University of Hertfordshire, where I teach across both the BSc Dietetics and BSc Nutrition programmes. I’m a registered Dietitian with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

My academic journey began with a BSc (Hons) in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Surrey, followed by a PhD in Nutritional Science from the University of Reading. My doctoral research, funded by the European Union, focused on the feasibility and efficacy of gene-based personalised nutrition as part of the Food4Me project (www.food4me.org).

I joined the University of Hertfordshire in 2015 as a Lecturer in Nutrition and Dietetics and was later awarded a university-funded Research Fellowship (2017–2020). Since then, I’ve continued to develop my research portfolio while also working as a part-time Research Fellow at the University of Reading (0.2 FTE).

My research interests include dietary assessment, app-based personalised nutrition, nutritional genomics, the dietary prevention of chronic disease, and addressing health inequalities. I’m passionate about using innovative, evidence-based approaches to improve health outcomes and reduce disparities in nutrition and healthcare.

I currently supervise the following PhD projects:
