Personal profile

Overview

I am a Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing with a strong focus on various forms of violence against women and girls, particularly honour-based violence, forced marriage, and domestic and sexual violence. My work adopts an intersectional approach, examining how gender, ethnicity, and health influence the experiences of violence among Black, Asian, and minority ethnic (BAME) groups. I specialise in qualitative research methodology, with extensive experience in creating and using participatory methods with young people. My doctoral research focused on improving and developing approaches to prevent female genital mutilation by engaging second-generation young people in the UK through participatory methods. Currently, I am part of a collaborative research team from the University of Hertfordshire, University of Durham, University of Nottingham, and the University of East London, exploring the mental health of Black students.
