Dr Sikiru O. Ismail is a Senior Lecturer in Manufacturing Engineering and Materials at the School of Physics, Engineering and Computer Science, University of Hertfordshire (UH), Hatfield, England, United Kingdom. He is a Module/Programme Leader of Degree Apprenticeship for Mechanical Engineering Awards and an astute Researcher. He is a member of the Materials and Structures, Energy and Sustainable Design Research Groups, Centre for Engineering Research (CER). He completed his Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in the School of Engineering, University of Portsmouth, England, United Kingdom, after obtained his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in the same University, as a scholarship researcher with prestigious awards such as Paper Publication Prizes: Best Student Paper and First Place Awards at both School of Engineering and Faculty of Technology levels. Prior to his doctoral degree, he obtained National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Ondo State Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State, Nigeria with Distinction Grade; Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Mechanical Engineering (Production) from the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria with First Class Honours Division; and Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering (Design and Production) from the University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos State, Nigeria with Distinction Grade as well as Overall/Best Student in all his degree programmes, among other outstanding prizes. Also, he obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from the University of Hertfordshire, England, UK.

Moreover, Dr Ismail has several years of professional (industrial, research and academic/lecturing) experience, having worked in many sectors, which include but are not limited to universities, polytechnics, colleges and engineering companies. He has worked as a lecturer, internal moderator, module leader, research fellow, examination officer, project coordinator/supervisor, personal tutor, staff adviser in schools and maintenance supervisor in industries. His research interest focuses on subtractive manufacturing (machining: conventional and non-conventional/advanced - UAD, EDM, A/WJD, etc.), formative manufacturing (casting, extrusion, injection moulding, etc), additive manufacturing (3D and 4D printing) aspects of Mechanical Engineering as well as Products/Materials (Composites) Design and Manufacturing, with more emphasis on sustainable Biocomposite Materials Design, Development, Testing, Damage Characterisation, Optimisation and Applications, using Experimental and Numerical/Finite Element/Analytical Modelling Techniques. Therefore, research proposals for various degree (PhD/Doctorate, EngD, MPhil, MSc/MRes and BEng/BSc) studies and industrial collaborations on the aforementioned and/or related research interests are warmly welcomed.  He has successfully won some research grants/funding and scholarships. In addition, he has published/presented several articles in local/international conferences and reputable high impact factor journals as well as Book Chapters. He has successfully supervised both undergraduates and postgraduate students’ projects as a first/lead and second/co-supervisor.
