Personal profile

Overview

Dr Tehmina Ambreen is a Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at the School of Engineering and Computer Science (SPECS), University of Hertfordshire. She obtained her PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Kyungpook National University, South Korea, in 2021, where her research investigated the hydrothermal performance of MXene-based nanofluids for advanced electronic thermal management. Her doctoral studies combined nanofluid synthesis and characterisation, computational modelling, and experimental validation.

She subsequently worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher (2021–2022) at Kyungpook National University, focusing on the design optimisation of parabolic trough solar collectors to improve thermal performance. From 2022 to 2023, she was a Research Associate at the University of Sheffield, contributing to a cross-disciplinary project on electro-mechanical magnetic blade pitch control systems for open rotor engines, where she developed thermal management solutions for high-power electronics and microelectronics operating under extreme conditions.

At Hertfordshire, her research is centred on thermal energy storage, heat pump optimisation, advanced thermal fluids, and sustainable energy integration, with a strong emphasis on combining computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and experimental methods. She has published widely, serves as a reviewer and guest editor for international journals, and has been recognised among the top 2% of scientists worldwide by Elsevier and Stanford University (2022 & 2024).
