Overview

Dr Volkan Esat completed his BSc and MSc degrees in Türkiye before earning his PhD from the Wolfson School of Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering at Loughborough University, UK, in 2006. He remained at Loughborough University until 2010, after which he joined the Mechanical Engineering Program at Middle East Technical University - Northern Cyprus Campus, where he served as a faculty member until early 2024. Since February 2024, he has been a part of the University of Hertfordshire, contributing to the Department of Engineering, specifically within the Automotive Engineering Subject Group. Additionally, he is affiliated with the UH Centre for Engineering Research (CER) and the Materials and Structures (MAST) Research Group.

Dr Esat's research interests encompass biomechanics, crashworthiness, injury prevention, computational and multi-scale modelling, mechanics of engineering materials, carbon nanotubes and their composites, machine design, and manufacturing, with a particular focus on metal forming.
