Dr Wendy Solomons is the Academic Lead of the Doctoral Programme in Clinical Psychology at the University of Hertfordshire. She is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist and Associate Fellow of the BPS. She gained her first degree in Experimental Psychology at Oxford University, and worked as a research psychologist at the Institute of Psychiatry in London before completing her professional postgraduate training in clinical psychology at University College, London. Since qualifying, she has worked in the NHS and related professional training programmes for over 25 years. Her clinical, research and teaching interests focus on the interplay of physical and psychological distress across the lifespan, with particular attention to the impact of socio-political contexts and inequalities. Her PhD and subsequent research consider ways in which critical and constructionist approaches can add to our understanding of the world, especially to processes of transition, marginalisation and identity construction.
