Overview

Dr Yar Muhammad works as a Principal Lecturer (Computer Science). He holds a Ph.D. in Information Communication Technology (ICT), double master’s degrees, M.Sc in Computer Engineering, M.S in Information Technology, and a Bachelor’s degree B.S in Computer Science.
He has 18+ years of full-time work experience in the areas of teaching, research, administration (Head of Program BS/MS computing, Course Leader B.Sc IT & Business Tech.), programming, student affairs, and arranging/organizing research conferences, seminars, workshops, and events.
He has several research publications in well-known international journals and conferences. He wrote a book as a sole author which is published by Springer - A Parametric Framework for Modelling of Bioelectrical Signals.
He received a Young Investigator Award (YIA), which was awarded by Springer and IFMBE at 16th Nordic-Baltic Conference on Biomedical Engineering & Medical Physics and Medicinteknikdagarna 2014, Sweden and he was runner-up for the Best Paper Award (BPA) in the 26th ISSC 2015, Ireland.
He has also been engaged to create the linkage between industry and academia and received Erasmus + International Credit Mobility grant.
He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), an Editorial Board Member of well-known journals,  was a Member of the Academic Board at Teesside University (03/22 - 01/2023), and a Senior Member of IEEE.
He is a founding member of IEEE TUT/UT student branches, Ex-Chair and Counsellor, and worked as Vice-Chair of IEEE IM/ED/EMB Joint Chapter and IEEE Student Activities Officer at IEEE Estonian Section.

Research interests

The research interest is on development of Brain Computer Interface (BCI) application mainly for health domain using the Artificial Intelligence (AI) especially Machine Learning.

  • Nimra Memon, 2022, Implementation and Analysis of Fault-Tolerance Mechanisms in Web Services Protocols

Currently, co-supervise the following PhD students:

  • Dmytro Zabolotnii, PhD student,  2021, Agent behaviour prediction for urban autonomous driving
  • Mahir Gulzar, PhD student, 2020, Context-aware behaviour modelling for autonomous driving

Achievements/Awards:
