Overview
Dr Yiding Liu is currently a lecturer in aerospace engineering in University of Hertfordshire and a visiting lecturer in University of Warwick in UK. She received the master degree in aerospace vehicle design in Cranfield University in 2015 and a Ph.D degree in fatigue and damage tolerance in Coventry University in 2019 with full scholarship. She was a research fellow in lightweight materials and manufacturing at University of Warwick from 2019 to 2021. During when, her modelling works has contributed to the structural development and crashworthiness of £14.66m Coventry Very Lightweight Rail (CVLR) project in Warwick Manufacturing Group, funded by Coventry Council and West Midlands Combined Authority.
Her interests include fracture, fatigue and damage tolerance analysis of composite materials and adhesively bonded joints, static and dynamic finite element modelling of lightweight structures. She has secured a £94k Catapult funding on structural health monitoring of composite braided structures using continuous optical fibre sensing. She has published 20+ peer reviewed papers, 10 conference records and industrial seminars, and is a reviewer for 4 journals till now. Her recent work interested in applying machine learning techniques to engineering solutions.
