Project Details
Description
This project proposes to build a bridge between historians among Japan and the UK and beyond. Numerous Japanese historians working on the history of Britain and the British Empire visit the UK every year. Such exchanges, however, have rarely extended to include the thriving field of financial history; nor has it been easy for such exchanges to be on an equal footing. Japanese historians have rarely had tangible impacts on debates developed in Western academia. The proposed project begins to redress this imbalance by focusing on the core strength of the project leader - interdisciplinary research into the history of speculation.
