A Woman Can’t Do That! A Creative Envisioning of the impact and significance of gender equality

This project promotes intergenerational public participation and artistic co-creation on feminism and gender equality, stimulated by the 50th anniversary of ground-breaking anti-discrimination legislation. The academic will lead discussion, using her research into how women’s magazines disseminated feminist ideas in the 1970s-1990s, with a Watford dance group of seniors, prompting them to reflect and record their lived experiences. These will inform a street art workshop where students from Westfield Academy, and the senior participants will jointly contribute to the creation of a street art template, guided by a feminist street artist, the academic, and students from the School of Creative Arts.
