Project Details
Description
In a national study that was funded jointly by the University of Hertfordshire and Bayer AG, we recruited in 13 hospitals in England and Wales to examine the factors that predict adherence to prophylaxis in adolescents and young adults with haemophilia. These factors included peoples’ perceived need for treatment being greater than the concerns that people had about the treatment, a positive expectancy of its effectiveness, good social support and a (negative) emotional reaction to having haemophilia. We also examined the different perspectives that patients, parents and health care professionals had in relation to adherence.
