An anatomy of Exchange Alley: locating trust in the late 18th-century stock market

This project focuses on the late-eighteenth-century stock market. It explores how, in the absence of a formal exchange constraining behaviour, trust was generated in the market that provided the mechanism for purchase of securities and determined their overall value.
