Analysis of changes in the heavy metals concentrations in sediments and suspended sediment in the Zeslawice Reservoir in the city of Cracow in 2016

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

The aim of the study was to contribute to expanding knowledge on the suspended matter quality through a combination of the field research and laboratory work, as well as knowledge of geochemical pollution of the water environment. The suspended matter was taken in individual water samples and in an integrated way through suspended sediment sampler developed and constructed at the University of Exeter. The basis of field research was sediment fingerprinting.
Heavy metals (Cr, Pb, Cu, Cd, Zn, Fe, Mn and Ni) were selected as contaminants for geochemical profile. Laboratory work, aimed to identify heavy metals in the suspended matter and sediments using atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS).
