Project Details
Description
This project will fund the build and use of optical particle sensors that will be used to measure particle
emissions from farms. Use of specialised sensors that are suitable for use at farm locations is a
particular requirement of the project. The sensors that will be utilised in this project are robust, low cost and have the capacity to store data, expanding the amount of data that can be collected. This data will enable particulate emissions profiles for farms to be determined based on the amount and size of airborne particles at these locations. Measurements over defined periods of time will allow identification of factors that will influence particles emissions. Analysis of the data will provide information that can feed into dispersion models, enhancing modelling approaches that enable us to make predictions on the risk of airborne spread of disease, improving outbreak management tools.
