Development of best practice toolkits to monitor the impact of forest school on pupils with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND).

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

Outdoor education, including forest school, is frequently used to support children with SEND in schools. This project will develop and test methods to assess the impact of forest school on SEND children. Research will be in partnership with the Inclusive Multi Academy Trust (encompassing three Watford primary schools: Beechfield, Cherry Tree Primary, and Laurance Haines School) which has an existing outdoor education / forest school programme focussing on SEND children. Research, led by Dr Frances Harris, builds on her experience in participatory research methods and research on outdoor environmental education.
