Project Details

Description

The aims of this study are to assess changes in the skin microbiome, barrier function, hydration, pH, visible signs (e.g. wrinkle analysis), and protein content according to age and explore any impacts of diet on skin ageing.
Participants will attend the laboratory at the University of Hertfordshire and asked to record their frequency of food and fluids over the previous 4 weeks using the eNutri web app (developed by the University of Reading).
Skin assessments will be completed to assess and characterise the skin and skin swab samples will be taken and analysed to determine the individuals skin microbiome profile.
Statistical analysis will be used to explore changes in skin and skin microbiome with age and explore the impact of dietary components on skin ageing.
