Flux and bio-aerosol monitoring and measurement by a Personal Aerosol Sampler (Task18)

Project: Other

Project Details

Description

This research is initially to assess the feasibility of adding an aerosol flux monitoring capability to the Personal Aerosol Sampler (PAS) technology developed by UH for Dstl. The capability would allow the monitoring and recording of aerosol mass arrival at the PAS filter over an 8-hour sampling period, with data being stored to the PIC processor withing the PAS for later download. The research will then progress to establish the viability of discriminating the bioaerosol fraction from the overall aerosol collected by the PAS unit. This investigation will focus on exploiting recent developments in commercial microspectrometers and UV laser and LED sources.
