The project was sponsored by Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng) from 2009 - 2011.
Key findings
The key findings are functional nano articles can be biologically toxic if their dose rate is high enough. Some of the results shown that the dose rate of CuO can be as high as 5mg/ml without significant effect on animal central nervous system (rats). Other nano-particles are all showing similar trends on either the central nervous system or other part of organs in animal tests.
