Project Details
Description
To further recent efforts in improving pig health and pork safety through the Collaborative Action for Pork Safety (CAPS), and Broadening Collaborative Action for Pork Safety (B-CAPS) projects, two areas of existing work that requires further support are: i) ribotyping of C. difficile pig isolates, and ii) reviewing the effectiveness of Salmonella control measures in abattoirs along the slaughter line. The outcomes will provide a deeper understanding of the prevalence of C. difficile and Salmonella in pork production and ways to improve food safety in production.
