Description
Aim of this project is to gain a better understanding of the structural requirements of ligands for
GRK2 inhibition and, ultimately, to develop improved GRK2 inhibitors that could be beneficial in enhancing the activity of pain-relieving
drugs. Consequently, greater pain relief with a smaller dosage of the drug and fewer side effects are the benefits. This can enhance the
quality of life in patients with difficult pain problems who require regular consumption of analgesic drugs. I started this project during
my previous research post at University of Bath. In this time I expanded the range of known GRK2 inhibitors and have very promising
preliminary data on these new chemical entities. I am now proposing to resume the project (in collaboration with the original partners)
which is aligned with the key research themes at UH.
