Project Details

Description

This project combines the CANDELS, HerMES and PEP surveys, together with data from the Galaxy Zoo project, to probe the evolution of galaxies in the early Universe. Key aims are to derive accurate merger rates and their evolution with redshift, study the contribution of major mergers in driving star formation and size growth and creating spheroids in the early Universe and perform detailed comparisons of survey-scale observational data to hydro-dynamical cosmological simulations of the high redshift Universe.
